We’ve had our ECM license linked to our Test database for a while now…we’re finally ready (I think) to move it to our Production database. My question is – how difficult is that to do and where is it done? I’m hoping it’s something we can do ourselves but I can’t find any documentation; maybe I’m just not searching correct terminology?

ECM has a license which tells Epicor that the server is licensed. If you have multiple environments/servers, each will have a different license key for ECM to communicate to Epicor that the server(s) are licensed.
The ECM integration / datalinks can be linked to a production/3rd/pilot/etc environment.
In Epicor/Kinetic, the attachment type points the attachments to the ECM server based on which ECM url is linked and given permission by the user/password to attach the files from Epicor/Kinetic to ECM.
Not sure which area you are looking into. More details would be required to understand this situation.
I agree with Scott that we might need a bit more information. Are you saying that your ECM instance is currently pointed to your Kinetic Test environment and you’d like to point it to Kinetic Live?

No worries, thanks for the clarification. Going off what Scott mentioned previously, you’ll need to check a few things.
If you have the ability to keep the dev and clone a production server then you can get a dev license for free. Then you have a test area for ongoing work.
You have to be careful that your license is only linked to one server. Since each license should only be connected to one ECM instance. Unless you get support to clear the license at the same time as cloning. Typically would shut down the services for the copied test server to avoid a license error.
True, It has to be coordinated and there ae a few tidbits left over in the db that have to be cleared out
I do have a dev license that needs to be installed. We have a new server being configured and when it’s ready, I’ll have a separate VM for the dev license.
