Remove all Kinetic Layers

I’m working on our final cutover procedure for our upgrade. One of the System Conversion tasks is #180 - CreateKineticCustomizations.

I have no interest in using anything the conversion workbench is going to try to uplift from classic to Kinetic, so I’d like to skip this step. Unfortunately, the system won’t let me continue without running this task.

So can you mass delete layers? Or do you have to go into the individual ones and remove them one by one?

I don’t know if you can “mass” delete them, but you can open Application Studio and scroll all the way to the bottom and delete them there. You might be able to select the ones you want with a checkbox and then delete. I have not tried.

Somewhere on the forums here I posted a UBAQ to delete personalizations. It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to refactor the code to do customization layers en masse.

Adding a link here for reference.

I’ll look at this…

Lemme know if it gets too crazy and I can take a look at it.

Easiest thing would be if Epicor didn’t force us to run this. I get the feeling it is necessary to tie the menu items in with the Classic/Kinetic combo. I could be wrong…

I’m not in the business of easy. :stuck_out_tongue:

If this is the conversion that converts classic customizations to kinetic, why do you have to stop it from running? Just because it creates kinetic layers for you doesn’t mean you have to use them, you can just delete them in application studio or just leave them there and ignore them. Its not going to hurt anything.

I know, but to keep the production environment clean, I don’t want unused -never going to use- layers out there.

I get it - but surely just deleting them from application studio afterwards is a lot easier than preventing a step in the conversion from running.

Application studio itself doesn’t have a delete. I’d have to navigate to every app and delete it manually.

I swear there was one in an earlier version

As far as I have seen, there is only an edit in application studio itself (although the edit button doesn’t work in 2021.2), but once you open the program you can click Change Layer which brings up the list of all the layers and delete them one by one there.

There is.

Yeah, what @aosemwengie1 said, lol.

No, I meant in the actual Application Studio landing page, not in an active customization.

Oh, no–you’re right. You cannot delete from there.

That would be too easy? lol
