you need to call support and get this program from them FixSNFormatDigits.r
this program will allow you to change the part number from 4 digits to 5 digits or 3 digits to 4 digits, etc.
it will not let you reduce the number of digits
it will not allow you to change from alphanumeric to numeric and the program is only good for 30 days from install

I need to know if there is a way we can change the Serial # format for a part AFTER it has been created. For example, we have part 78350 that has a serial number format of 78350-xxxx and we want to change it to a 5 digit format instead of 4 but when I edit the part, the option to change the 4 is "greyed out". Is there a way "behind the scenes" that this can be done. Thanks in advance!

You will need to call support and ask for a SN format fix program. That is
the only way in V 8.03.
