Is Service Connect required to deploy EDI in Epicor 9.05?
Thanks!
I had heard there is a direct import option for version 9, but I do not have version 9 installed to verify...

As far as I know, EDI will use the runtime for Service Connect.
It should be included in your installation.

They have added direct connect where you do not require service connect. It is part of demand management and still uses TIE commerce for the mapping. Essentially it allows you to schedule the process of inputting from a pre-formatted file
Â
If you need to create your own mappings for different file inputs from different customers you would still have to use service connect to write your own input/mapping process

Service connect is not required for 9.05 EDI.

8.03 used Service Connect to get the data in to Vantage, but in 9.05 they wrote a new native object to import data and left service connect behind. I am sure you can still use it, but the new object is supposed to be much faster.

Note that the Direct EDI import was added in 9.05.607, versions of 9.05
before that must use Service Connect.

Service connect is not required for 9.05 EDI.

they wrote a new native object to import data and left service connect
behind. I am sure you can still use it, but the new object is supposed
to be much faster.
