Has anyone else experienced message maps just disappearing in Service Connect. I support Service Connect at a number of different installations, and periodically one (or more) of the message maps will just be gone. This has happened at completely different installations, so it’s not specific to just one install. I’d guess over the last 4-5 years, I’ve had this happen maybe 8-10 times over four or five different installs.
The fix is pretty easy, just go back in and set up the message map again. But I have no idea why this is happening. And it’s so intermittent, it’s hard to point a finger at anything.
Never did get around to fully testing however it seemed to be triggered by restoring from a backup. Perhaps not immediately, but message maps would then be lost on reboot or service restart?
I had assumed this was linked to restoring senders and/or message types without all related message map entries, but I dont believe I had any real evidence for this!
I’m quite sure this is happening out of the blue. One of my clients where this happens, Service Connect is running on a standalone server and I’m the only one with access. It runs a lot of processes through daily, I hadn’t even VPN’ed to the client for weeks - and suddenly the maps are gone . I can say with 100% confidence that it’s not a matter of someone doing anything in Service Connect other than documents being dropped in the incoming channels.
If this was self-inflicted, it would give me more comfort. But when it just decides to wipe out maps with no apparent reason, that’s what’s puzzling. Oh well - we may never know. Fortunately, the fix is pretty easy.
