Shelf Life

We did it against a review date for a customer:

BAQ created with Customer / Date01 field

BAQ Export set up to run daily

BPM created with conditions against Date01=Today and correct BAQ ID. Email is sent with link to file showing required data.

Hope it helps.

Hello, there

Does anyone know how or have experience on using Shelf Life field in
Part Maintenance Window to set up part's life time? We want to use it
to notify us when a product is nearing it's stated expiration date.

Any information will be appreciated.

I saw this question in the archive, but unfortunately no answer. Has anyone used shelf life in part maintenance to notify a person that an expiration date is coming up? Maybe using a BPM to send an email when the date nears? I am on Vantage 8.03.305k. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Tim

Not sure a BPM would be the way to go.

Do you want one person to receive all the notifications or different people
based on part class or some other criteria?

How about a simple report or dashboard? Not sure how you'd trigger a BPM in
this instance, but I'm sure a few of the clever BPM engineers on here may
think of something.

And, here we go:.. If you were on SQL you could write a stored proc that
fired nightly and emailed a list of upcoming expirations.. I've done that
before.

I saw this question in the archive, but unfortunately no answer. Has anyone
used shelf life in part maintenance to notify a person that an expiration
date is coming up? Maybe using a BPM to send an email when the date nears? I
am on Vantage 8.03.305k. Any suggestions or input would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks,

Tim

Probably two people to receive the same message (in case one is out).
Our shelf life is a realitively small percentage of our parts, so say 10
parts that would have an expiration date. I wouldn't have a problem with
making the shelf life date in the system thirty days before, so the
notice comes at "expiration" instead of trying to force vantage to let
me know thirty days before. BPM was the first thing that came to mind,
but I am a new user so it couldn't be anything too complicated. I just
need something to warn us that an expiration is nearing without us
having to look for it. I am open to suggestions. Thanks,

Tim

We use the shelf life in combination with a "smart" lot number to track battery expiration / charge cycles. I have a dashboard that highlights the parts that need to be charged with a warning if they've reached their maximum number of charges. Our inventory and quality teams both look at it regularly.

We've never had a need to schedule this as the expirations come up regularly so someone always looks, but I think people in the group have previously mentioned scheduling a BAQ and emailing the results?
