Signature required

Wanting to make a particular customer always Signature Required for shipping. Currently we have to go in and manually add it in. Any thoughts on the best way of doing this?

Under Customer Entry - Manifest Info, you have the option to check mark signature required for the delivery types. That is where we do this.

William,
If you are referring to the Customer Shipment Entry Manifest Info tab where it says ‘Signature Required’ then you can ultimately set it’s default in Customer Entry. (Got a lot to update, use DMT), but a few things to note so you don’t get confused:

  1. The Customer Shipment Entry get’s it’s default setting from the Sales Order, so setting this on the customer is not retroactive.
  2. The Manifest Info defaults for Sales Order Entry can be set on the Customer and each Customer Ship To:
  • Per customer: Customer Entry > Manifest Info tab

  • Per Ship To: Customer Entry > Ship To > Manifest Info tab.

  1. There are other defaults that can be set for Customer & Ship To’s too that often times is over looked: ShipVia, FOB, etc.
  2. Be aware of if and which ShipTo is marked as ‘Primary’ If a Ship To is set to Primary and it does not have Signature Required set, then any Sales Orders by default will be set to that Ship To and the Signature Required will NOT be set. The Customer Manifest Info setting is only if no Ship To is defined.

Good info! Let’s put another log into this, this customer has many ship to’s, and only certain ones need sign required. (However, these certain ones are hundreds!) So, can we just specify certain ship to’s and not the whole customer?

Yes, in customer entry > Ship To> select the ship to > then select the Manifest Info tab and set the setting, save & repeat.

Or use DMT, if you have it.
Or if you want to try to use Paste Update in the Ship To List view, you could try (do in Test DB first, please!)

  1. Personalize the Ship To List view to include the Signature Required checkbox (and hide anything else that isn’t an important key field).
  2. Send entire list to Excel
  3. In Excel set your Signature Required fields accordingly
  4. Copy all
  5. Paste Update (NOT INSERT!) at the first row and it should update that way too.
If you’ve don’t done this Paste Insert thing before, play around in a test db first.
