South Dakota in the winter

Several people asked for an update from South Dakota. Last week we took a drive on the Custer State park Wildlife loop hoping to see a couple of bison (aka buffalo). Thinking “it’s the middle of winter” we may not see anything. But we were blessed to see just about every native animal except for Elk. We saw the aforementioned Bison plus wild mules, pronghorn (aka North American Antelope or simply “antelope”) white tail deer, big horn sheep, quail, hawk, and the blazing fast wolf chasing prairie dogs in an open field.

Great shots @timshuwy! Reminds me of our family trip to SD years ago to see the park and Mt Rushmore.
