Still need help - payroll processing problem - due today new med

We use Vantage payroll and have employees that will affect, but not this early in the year. We will use the solution Randy explained. I don't know why you couldn't have 2-3 tables out there with the different threshold amounts (one w/$200,000, one w/$250,000, and one w/$125,000 if needed) and point the appropriate tax table to each employee. The federal tax tables are set up that way with different tables for married and single, they work just fine. The medicare tax tables would only need two levels instead of the multiple levels the federal tax tables use.

Dina,
Have her look at or try "Additional tax on Gross Wages" on the Medicare tax screen, by reading help - it sounds like it is worth trying.

This is on the Medicare part, if the employee makes higher than 200,000 the Medicare portion is higher. We talked to Epicor, and their solution did not work either... Any ideas?

We are doing the first pay for the year in Vantage 5.2. Our payroll department is not sure how to enter the new Medicare for the EE. She said she set up the tax as a table in Vantage. But she said it is not calculating it correctly. How did everyone else handle this? I am sure, she is not the first to ask this question. :) HELP - payroll is due today

able to work in any of the plants where they happen to be needed that

Support has no suggestions, anyone else run in to this?

at all. The first is components, where you list individual
parts/assemblies/or major subcomponents of a larger or main piece of
equipment. Some genius thought it would be a good idea to design it so
you had to tell the component its parent equipment ID, now you are hosed
if this is a component that is common across more than one piece of
equipment. Say you had a spindle drawbar on a vertical machining center
used across several machine tools... you can only establish it under
one! The other lackluster feature is in scheduling. In order for it to
block out production time in the schedule when the machine is being used
for preventative or reactive maintenance you have to tie the resource
which is tied to the equipment ID directly to the maintenance operation.
This sounds reasonable at first, but instead of the software just
looking through the equipment ID on the job and the resource tied to the
equipment ID in the set up, you now have to create an operation per
piece of equipment. So if you have 70 pieces of equipment, you have to
have 70 operations to cover this (and for each type of operation you may
want). The really irritating this is, if you have say 3 production
machines, they are all the same, you'll have to have 3 separate
operations (all identical save for the different resources tied to
them). In my mind this will be a nightmare for maintenance guys to keep
straight... That's what I've found so far... Over all this is a pretty
new module for them, and as a result is a bit more shallow than you'd
think given the demos you probably saw.

Whats happening, it is looking at the pay amount, figuring the ee is going to make 200K+ and automatically calculating the higher percentage. But the EE only pays the higher tax on the 200K and above. Make sense?

I thought I would actually get a lot of response on this, and how people are handling. From what I am seeing 9.0 handles the same way. I am guessing a lot of companies are not using Vantage payroll?

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I think that's it exactly. I guess how I would handle it, is to watch the
earnings and not even add that extra % in on the tax table until they get
close to the $200K mark.
It may not be the solution you want to deal with, but I even looked at
adding another tax code, just for the additional tax over $200K, and that
does the same thing.

And PS - probably everyone wants to know: Do you have any openings? :-)

Dina, I added a tax table and from 0 to $200k, it is 1.45%, $200k to $99,999,999.99, it is 2.35%. The only problem is the $200k is for single employees. The higher rate kicks in at $250,000 for married employees. I'm not sure how to handle that.
We don't have anyone at that level, yet.

Dina,
Have her look at or try "Additional tax on Gross Wages" on the Medicare tax screen, by reading help - it sounds like it is worth trying.

This is on the Medicare part, if the employee makes higher than 200,000 the Medicare portion is higher. We talked to Epicor, and their solution did not work either... Any ideas?

Dina,
We're on 6.1, but I'm assuming it's still very similiar - I updated mine with no problem, and it's working fine.
If you'd like, she can call me & I'll help her through it.

Subject: [Vantage] Re: E9 Maintenance Module

I'm also just starting to implement but in a multi-plant environment.
With Maintenance Operations having to reference Resources, the Equipment
(location) resources are plant specific. However, the people resource of
a 'Maintenance Crew' or 'Maintenance Tech A' in our case needs to be
able to work in any of the plants where they happen to be needed that
day.

Support has no suggestions, anyone else run in to this?

Greg

implementing it. So far (and I had the first impressions you did) as
usual the devil is in the details, and I'm Highly Underwhelmed at this
point. There are two critical areas that were not very well thought out
