Subcontracting jobs

Just guessing a couple of things (you may have already checked these).  On Part, Plant Tab, you do have the part as type of “Purchased”?  Also, not sure if it is optional or needed, but do you have a value in days of supply on this same tab?

Cathy,

Had another question come up. :)

While trying to create a PO with a line for Subcontract Operation, the following error is generated upon trying to save the PO:

“The Part selected is not setup for Purchasing Contracts in this Plant.”

We have searched everywhere, part maintenance, supplier maintenance, operation, price lists… trying to find what was missed in the set up process for this to work.  If anyone could point us in the right direction, and tell us what we missed, it would be greatly appreciated.

Can you give us a nudge in the right direction??

Thank you!

Is anyone using the subcontracting functionality for
production jobs?  If so, how did you set up the operation?  How did
you set up the bom?  And once the bom was costed did any costs pull into
the Std. Subcontract field?

We use SubContracting functionality.

You need to add it as a Subcontract operation. Once you do – you can add a unit price and your primary supplier.

It should roll up from the unit cost.

We are average cost, so basically, our cost get into the job from the PO, once it is received back from the supplier.

Cathy,

Thanks for the reply!  I have a couple of questions...

Do you create BOM’s and cost
them through the costing workbench?

If so, do you build the BOM with
the subcontracting operation?

Create the BOM through Engineering Workbench.

Besides unit cost and supplier, also add days out. This is your lead time.

As far as costing, you can use the Costing Workbench or you can do a cost adjustment.
