Supplier and Customer Cage Code

Good morning,
We are looking for a place in Epicor to track Cage code at both the supplier and customer level. Does Epicor have this functionality or do we need to add UD fields to track this information?

Thanks,
Laura

Hi Laura,

I don’t think there’s a CAGE Code field anywhere but you can try a couple of things:

Create an Internal Cross Reference

Add CAGE Codes as parts and use Part Alternates

The nice thing about alternates, is that Order Entry should be able to enter the CAGE Code and it will suggest the internal part. It may even work for Purchase Orders but I haven’t tried it.

@laura.roppelt We added them as UDs

I like the idea of using the Alternate part number. One alternate can point to many different parts if you like. I have had customers in the past use the Alternate PN for grouping parts… for example, they created an Alt PN for “Bolt” and assigned it to all their bolts. Then in sales, you could type in BOLD in the part number, and Epicor will show all the parts that are bolts.
But the idea of using a UD FIeld on the Part table also works. or a UD Table that links the Part/Customer/Cagecode and Part/Vendor/Cagecode would be more robust.

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks Greg. I think that’s what we’re leaning toward doing.

Thank you for the two suggestions! I appreciate it.
