The Cloud - Version 9.05.605

My boss want to move Epicor 9.05.605 to the Cloud.

It is running on Server 2008 R2.

Is it possible?

Epicor has a solution called Single Tenant SaaS that could host that, but, any provider where one could host a Windows 2008R2 guest OS could potentially work.

One has to consider what they wish to get out of a Cloud deployment in order to determine the best solution. If you wish to have someone else handle almost everything about the hosted machines including the maintenance/management of the ERP, you’d have to find a company that has Epicor ERP experience to host your instance which narrows the field quite a bit. If you wish to keep the ERP specific management/maintenance in-house and let the hosting provider handle most everything else you’d have more options.

This is certainly possible, generally the experience is much more pleasant with E10 on the cloud, but we do have a few customers on 9

What is the reason for wanting this move? There certainly are benefits but there can be also a bit of downside (specially in 9)

Microsoft stopped provided “mainstream support” in January 2015 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and will officially end support in January 2020, which is barely 2 years away. The release is already almost 9 years old. As you consider making the move to Epicor SaaS, like Nathan pointed out, Epicor has a Single-Tenant SaaS solution. Epicor also offers a Multi-Tenant cloud deployment as well as a Dedicated Tenancy deployment. Dedicated Tenancy provides the benefits of a multi-tenant cloud deployment with the flexibility of a Single-Tenant cloud deployment. Within the dedicated tenant solution, you are allowed to implement more customizations and may choose to defer adoption of major software releases by up to 90 days. Converting your entire database to a Dedicated Tenancy deployment is possible, but not with the Multi-Tenant deployment.

Thank you all - I was asked by the power that be to find out some information.

I have passed all of the comments to my manager.
