The report server was unable to validate the integrity of encrypted data in the database

Version 10.1.500.0
Application Server Setup
SSRS

I’m trying to test 10.1.500.11 and setting up an Application Server. The server is a Demo server, so nothing special. When I try and deploy the Application Server i get the error below:

Originally I thought it may have to do with a subscription error, but I don’t think so. Any help would be appreciated.

Did someone change the Reporting Service’s user account/password in Windows services recently? If so, that can cause all sorts of issues downstream as that needs to be completed in Reporting Services Configuration Manager/SQL Server Configuration Manager.

You can try the process in the KB article here

If that doesn’t work, I suspect there is always creating a new Reporting Services database in Report Services Configuration Manager and use that with your Reporting Services instance worst case.

I apologize, I figured it out. I guess my first idea was right, I had to delete the Encrypted Keys and all works again.

This is one of these things where you ask, “What changed?” I’m sure it will remain clear as mud.

I just ran into this same issue.

How did you delete the Encrypted Keys to get this working again?

Thanks for the help.

@Jonathan_Lang sorry for start communication on a very old topics…I am facing exactly the same error when I try to upgrade the server from 10.2.400.13 to 10.2.500.9. I am not very familiar with Epicor or SQL. Would appreciate your help to share your experience is there anything we need to do after deleting the “Encrypted Content”?

Hello Mohammad,

Not really anything else you need to do. I would check to make sure no one changed the reporting service’s username and password. Other than that you should have no issues.
