Bill,
What version are you on?
We're on 6.1 and I've written a Report Builder version of the Time Phased
report which could be modified to run by Planner or any other parameter.
If you're interested I could mail you a copy?
Regards,
Richard

Subject: [Vantage] Time phased report

I am told by our Master Scheduler that in order to comply with several
contractual agreements, we really need to be able to sort/filter the Time
phased report by Planner number, which is how we currently separate out the
parts convered under the agrreements. Is anyone currently doing this? Does
anyone have a nifty workaround? Suggestions?
thanks very much

Quick and dirty method: Write a (simple) shared BAQ against the PartPlant table. Assuming you have just one Plant, add the PartNumber and (either) Person ID (planner ID) and/or PersonName (planner name/description) to the BAQ.

If you have a huge number of part records (or if you ARE multi-plant), perhaps you might also want to add criteria to limit the returned parts by specify a specific plant, perhaps the boolean Process MRP value (= constant TRUE for just MRP parts) or perhaps the boolean NonStock record value (= constant FALSE for just stocked parts).

Specify column display of planner (PersonID or PersonName) and Part (and anything else that might be pertinent to your people to select meaningful sets of Part numbers).

Sort Ascending on Planner and then Part (or anything else that might also be pertinent to you).

Select all columns as 'like' columns (which then makes the shared BAQ accessible from any search window that searches on a view containing any of those 'like' columns).

After analyzing and sucessful testing of the BAQ, save it (also exporting an xml copy that can be reimported after a major dot release upgrade or complete db reimport/rebuild).

Time Phase Inquiry's search only allows selection of one part (not a range of parts that can then be toggled through). This means your planners will have to 'grab' there Parts from another application (like Part Tracker or Part Entry), right click jump to Time Phase from that app, then allow Time Phase to change part number context as you toggle through the planner's group of parts in Part Tracker (or Entry).

Assuming you decide to use Part Tracker, open it and press the Part (search) control and click on the BAQ tab: You should see your BAQ.

Your planners can then just use the BAQ to search and only select Parts with their planner code (loading all selected in the search screen into a queue that can then be toggled through in Part Tracker.)

Since Time Phase Inquiry was right clicked launched from Part Tracker, it should maintain context/focus and pull in the next Part as the planner toggles to the next Part in Part Tracker.

SInce BAQ names tend to be messy (with the company code prefix and limited number of characters available to name them), you can make it cleaner for your planners by creating a meaningfully (more 'english like') Named Search (associted with ONLY this specific menu instance of Time Phase Inquiry) that uses the new BAQ you've written.

Good luck with it!
