Sales orders (salespeople's bad habits)

Yeah I was looking at the change log. One problem I find with the change log
is if you select a standard part a sales person can go back into the order a
week or 2 later and change the description slightly and exit out and the
change log won't pick this up!!.

I was hoping to use the steel bars set and forget approach instead of the
detective approach.

That's where I was looking and the check box is not there. I'm not the only
blind one because our 5.20 implementation team all can't find it either.
The help screen mentions it but the field but it is not on the screen.
Right-clicking the screen to see the fields does not show it listed.
BookOrders Toggle box is listed and does show on the screen. Perhaps I
should call Epicor and see if there is a problem with 5.20.210. I can send
them a screen capture if necessary. We really want to track all changes if
we can.

Todd,
I don't have 5.2 loaded at the moment, but both "Book Sales Orders" and
"Track SO Changes" are in Configuration Maintenance/ Company/Module
Configuration /Order Management Configuration. When we check the "Track SO
Changes", then EVERYTHING that happens to the sales orders will get
recorded.

I have a growing problem with salespeople using sales order enter to view
old completed jobs instead of using Order Tracker. The main problem is they
reopen sales ordered to look at sales lines but like typical sales people
forget to close the line and put the sales order back the way it was. The
physical slap in the back of the head is not working when I catch them, I
need to put some security on this item but notice in the menu security the
is no option for stopping people opening or closing or even voiding sales
orders.

Any tips or am I missing something????

Which version ya' running? At some point, 5.0 IIRC, they added a "track SO
changes" feature. If you turn it on in Company Config, you can gather hard
evidence to nail the culprit. Or at least run a daily report to see which
ones have to be re-closed.

I haven't seen 5.2, but in 5.0 it was two separate config options. Also, I
think you had to have the "track changes" turned on to have access to the
change log from Order Entry.

Book SOs has been around since I started with 3.0. It tracked the order
value any time an order was updated. No access to the data within Vantage,
but you can report on it (BookOrd & BookDtl).

Don't have access to 5.2, but I can't believe they got rid of a
feature. Maybe they moved it so it's configurable at the customer
level? Try poking around in Customer, Customer Group, or some of the other
order mgt code files for a place to enable it.

I suppose these sales people MUST have rights to Sales Order Entry? Are
they the people who physically enter the orders? Because if they aren't the
ones who enter the orders, secure them out of entry completely, but let them
have access to the tracker. Otherwise, I'm with Wayne: make a report that
shows which orders have been reopened and post it someplace public.
