Traveler tables

Ed,
Unfortunately, not yet. Because the SQL-92 asks for a Login each time (even with the workaround for the login that Epicor has supplied) Vantage bombs out on it. There is an open issue on this, and if you want to please add your name to it, it might lend some support to the cause.

This might be my problem. We modified the Vantage 4.0 traveler so that the
ship releases would show in their proper order. We did this with a
subreport. We upgraded to 5.o and are using the new drivers (SQL-92). I
keep getting a cannot link error. Has anyone got a subreport to work with
the SQL-92 drivers. Call number is: #748545 ODBC and 599 error
"There has been more and more issues coming from in regarding ODBC and Crystal and the 599 error which appears to be ... stemming from the login to nested type of reports of crystal using the DSN. We are trying to find out info from Progress and Crystal. It appears that Crystal has no intentions of adding functionality automatic logins using a file DSN. And they are point to the Progress driver" -Jay Erickson

There are two workarounds that may work for you.
1. Use the Merant 3.5 or 3.6 drivers.
2. Export the table you need to a data file, link through Access, and then use a subreport as you have before.

Look up "Error 599" in the egroups messages and you'll get some history on this.

I can send you a sample Purchase Order form that I modifed if you
need a live example.

You can do this via ODBC to live vantage tables if you are using
Merant 3.5 or 3.6, but there seems to be problems with the SQL-92
drivers when running a Vantage report in this way (even if it views
fine in Crystal Reports).
If you happen to be using the SQL-92 drivers, one way around this is
to export the table you need to a .dbf or .xls file and link through
Access.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Hello group, hope everyone had a good turkey day.

I am trying to do something that I am sure would be ill advised.
I am frustrated with the choice of fields in the temp tables for the
job traveler. I need to have the customer PO on the traveler along
with the customer name. I decided to try adding tables to the
report, linking them to the temp tables. I found that I am limited
to what fields I can link because many number fields in the real
database are setup as text fields in the temp tables. I have been
successful in linking the jobnum and extracting data from the jobprod
table but some of my other links seem to be hit or miss. Has any one
done this? I could use the user defined fields and make these a
manual entry but it just bugs me when the info is already in the
system.

Thanks for any response
Mark Dupuis
The info you need is in the jobship table, getting it to display only once
is a task.

Mark,
You can do it by creating a formula in the main report that converts the text field to a numeric field. Then you can create a subreport with the table that you want and link it to the formula you created.

Let me know if you have more questions.
