I’m trying to locate where utilization is entered for resources into the system. Can anyone point me to it?
utilization is calculated from Data Collection (MES) screens when employees report time. There is a labor report that shows utilization i believe (it has been a while since I looked at it).
But also… some companies have various calculations for Utilization (and also for “realization”)
where I used to work, we did two different calcualtions on each employee:
- Utilization: percent of the time that an employee was clocked into jobs (and not on overhead).
- Realization: this takes into account efficiency… if the employee was clocked into one job for 8 hours, they were 100% utilized. If the job said that they should complete 10 pieces per hour (80 per day), and they only complete 60 in the day, they only had a 75% realization.. or… if they finished 160 parts in the day, then they were %200 realized.
Tim,
In my experience there is a setting at the resource level so that we can say to MRP upon scheduling “only factor in a certain percentage of the calendar”.
- This is more of a metric, meaning of the 10 hours available on this resource today, how many were worked.
- we call this earned hours, but again is more of a metric than a setting.
Any suggestions?
