I would appreciate if you would share with me the code to make the tab visible and invisible when needed

Hello all,
I am trying to change the background color of the tab on a docking panel that I have added to a form. Has anyone had any experience in doing this?
I am able to close and show the panel when I need to, and even activate it so it is in view, I just can't seem to find the correct properties to alter its background color.
I have tried TabAppearance.BackColor and TabAppearance.BackColor2
Some working code examples would be appreciated.
Thanks and have a good day.
