To be honest, we didn't see much increase in performance. May be 10% performance increase after D and L.
I did D and L the same day, right after upgrading from 4.0 to 5.1.
Our database is 3.2 GIG running on Compaq ML 370, 1.2 GHZ with 1 GIG RAM. Without D and L approx 3.5 GIG.
I'd say it took me about 4-5 hours to do it and you need at least 6 to 7 GIG free space on the HD.
