Is anyone using the Vantage EDI module? If so, how is it working for
your company? How complex is the implementation.

Thanks,

We have been requested to have in-house EDI capabilities by the end of the
year from some of our major customers. We currently use a third party EDI
company. We our using 3.0.632. Can anybody give me the pro's and con's of
Vantage's EDI and the cost associated with the purchase. Thanks in advance.

Who is your 3rd party, and what do they charge?

Hi,
We currently have EDI capabilities and bought the EDI module from Vantage.
When we first got into this, we thought it was going to be much easier than
it was. We have Sterling software that has worked fine for us. But we have
decided to just print out the EDI transmissions and enter them into Vantage.
On the invoicing side we enter the EDI information into Sterling manually.
We do not use the EDI module in Vantage at all. We bought the mapping
software from Sterling, but have not done any mapping into the Vantage EDI.
We just do not have the resources to do this. We looked into outsourcing it,
but it was around $3500 per map. Each customer needs it's own map per each
document you need to map. It ended up being more expensive to map than spend
the time entering for us. I would be happy to talk to you about our
experiences if you are interested.

We bought the Vantage EDI module (Version 3.0) and find it totally useless.
Epicor promises that EDI works better in 4.0 but I won't believe it until I
see it. We get partial information on in coming EDI transactions and the
same for outgoing. The missing information has to be manually entered. We
use Harbinger software for mapping and transferring information. (We don't
recommend it.)

You'd think with all the collective knowledge out there that someone could
develop a standardized purchase order and invoice that could be easily
transferred and incorporated into any current system.

Is there anybody out there using EDI on 4.0? We are going live in a
few months and Accounting has the expectation that EDI will be easy
to implement and they want it done promptly. I would appreciate some
feedback from anybody who's using it or anybody who's tried and given
up on it. We are using EDI EDGE software for creating documents.

My boss would also like to hear from anybody who is using the ADP
interface.

We are in the same boat! We bought the EDI module, and due to
numerous bugs (which they WON'T fix) and inflexibility, we can only use
EDI for incomming transactions (but only after the incomming file is
parsed with my own program to do part & customer verification so we
don't loose any orders).
For outgoing EDI, we have had to write a report, send to a file, and
have a second program read that report and create the EDI Document for
our trading partner.
In version 4 (patch 8.10), they fixed most of the bugs (the
inflexibility is still there), except the one we really needed fixed (if
the incomming part is in Part Master & stocked, then uncheck "make" and
default plant & warehouse). I told them about this back in April, and
they haven't done ANYTHING!!
The thing that is so frustrating is that we had to pay them to create a
custom program to fix their buggy EDI programs!
And now every patch we load, we have to delete all the EDI programs and
replace them with our ver 3 custom programming. (which we had to pay
them again to convert to ver 4)!

If only Vantages' competition were to find out how unresponsive Epicor
is to their customers......

Very Frustrating!!!
