Does anyone have a vendor performance report that shows the need date vs.
the receipt date in total (i.e. how many shipments were on time and how

I just purchased a report that shows that from a third party. It's an
excellent report, particularly if you're in an ISO environment. I can
e-mail a sample if you'd like, as well as the name of the person who wrote
it.

I got a million of 'em..

Also, I've seen a lot of reference to the Vendor Performance Report
on the list in the past. My theory is that most originated from the
same place. When we moved to Vantage 3.5 years ago, we brought in an
Epicor trainer, and guess what project was a centerpiece for the week.

Regarding uploading, it's not totally altruistic. I also appreciate
dialog with Progress programmers. I've had no way to determine how
much I've learned in relation to others, so I decided to throw out
some tidbits. Doesn't anyone else want to show off their work along
with their advice?

Remember that you don't need Provision to write programs. All provision
gives you is the ability to write to the Database. Most Vantage
installations can create Progress programs to read the database, hence
create any report your little heart desires, in perfect safety.

I jumped into this whole Vantage thing cold turkey. I learned from someone who went to a few classes, and then he left the company. I was hired to do mostly Crystal programming, but have had to pick up most aspects of Vantage along the way - including converting from 3.0 to 5.0. I wonder sometimes if I've broken any Epicor records for the most Tech support calls. They never seem to complain, though.

Anyway, writing in Progress is something I have no clue about - even though my background is programming. Just haven't had time to look.

Been in front of this dang PC for 14 hours, but here goes...

The benefits could be great if you talk someone into it. I could
spend days talking about money and time saved. Of course you don't
go around changing things without extensive testing.

Yes, I've also heard the naysayers who believe the Vantage database
is sacrosanct, and should not be touched by the hands of mere
mortals. All within reason. But isn't it just a database? Are we
not programmers?? Yea, verily.

Reward without risk? That's unAmerican!!! Yes, I lost a bundle on
tech stocks, but I took the risk!! Yes, I asked that beautiful
cheerleader out, but I took.. wait a minute, no I didn't, risking
money is one thing. As my soapbox crashes inward, I return to the
original subject.

Seriously, we probably have a dozen programs deployed that are used
often to change database values. Let alone the occasional mass
changes that save hundreds/thousands each time asked for. And let's
not forget the value of extacting and manipulating data, RB/Crystal
can't come close to the power of a programming language.

And what about the FULL power of the language. Let's say it
together, "To create new programs". Vantage is just a program
(alright, a complicated 1000+ module-probably, 250+ table behemoth),
why can't we write our own for other uses? HR, Safety, Job Training,
etc. all could be tracked with a Progress program.

I cannot suggest this strong enough - if you're a trained programmer,
with confidence in your abilities and the aptitude to learn, you need
to get the full version.

I totally agree! If your company has paid quite a bit for USE of
source code, you shouldn't give it away. And what about the time and
effort of the developer, Epicor?

I'm attaching the entire message I sent which you refer to in your
post. I hope it wasn't misconstrued as an INVITATION to upload
proprietary material.

By the way, were you able to get any ideas from the snippits of
source code from "Robot Employee Clockon/Clockoff" I uploaded? If
you would like to discuss some of the quirks and unique
considerations of the program, I'll be happy to help.

Does anybody have a Vendor Performance report, that breaks it down to
the P.O level? I've made a few attempts this morning to create a
Report Builder report with the following fields. Vendor Number, name,
P.o #, P.o line, Due date, Receipt date, Buyer. Can't seem to get the
links to work correctly between any of the Po tables, and the
Recieving tables.

links form RcvDtl to PODetail, POHead, PORel and Vendor. It filters on a VB
Form date field on RcvDtl which is the "real" received date rather than when
someone got around to receiving it. We use this is for outside or
subcontract vendors and not materials. Because I am filtering on an item in
RcvDtl I started with that ast he master table. Like a lot of places out
rules for judging performance are a little convoluted due to also entering
the vendor's "promissed" date as oppoed to our due date, plus the date we
really got is (as mentioned above) versus when it gets recorded as received.
We also track quality (also from the VB Form on RcvDtl). Let me know if you
would like a copy.

I'll send off-line to those who have requested it rather than posting to
files area (since it is full) and also because it is still in user review
(maybe not completely done but a good start). We are on 4.00.812 and I
think I recall hearing of some newer fields in 5.0/5.1 that might allow not
using as many VB form fields.

I have one just recently completed (still being checked out by users). It
links form RcvDtl to PODetail, POHead, PORel and Vendor. It filters on a VB
Form date field on RcvDtl which is the "real" received date rather than when
someone got around to receiving it. We use this is for outside or
subcontract vendors and not materials. Because I am filtering on an item in
RcvDtl I started with that ast he master table. Like a lot of places out
rules for judging performance are a little convoluted due to also entering
the vendor's "promissed" date as oppoed to our due date, plus the date we
really got is (as mentioned above) versus when it gets recorded as received.
We also track quality (also from the VB Form on RcvDtl). Let me know if you
would like a copy.

Does anybody have a Vendor Performance report, that breaks it down to
the P.O level? I've made a few attempts this morning to create a
Report Builder report with the following fields. Vendor Number, name,
P.o #, P.o line, Due date, Receipt date, Buyer. Can't seem to get the
links to work correctly between any of the Po tables, and the
Recieving tables.
