After reporting quantity on a Job - the “FG” should show in the Part Locations → WIP tab in Part Tracker. I am not seeing any part we are producing in the WIP tab - nor am I seeing the WIP in Job Tracker.
I am able to do the Job Receipt to Inventory just fine with no issues and without getting the “quantity entered exceeds quantity completed” warning - so reporting on the Job does put it into WIP until the Job Receipt
Is there some sort of setting in Epicor that hides WIP? I would like to be able to see the WIP in the part tracker → Part Locations → WIP tab
mannn. So Ernie, please tell me I’m not crazy, is there no way to track a job part location as it moves through oeprations?
Say I have a part, two ops, 10 and 20. 10 happens on the other side of the shop, it needs to be moved to a holding locaiton before op 20 resource is ready to grab it… is there no way to do op10, and move the job part to a location?
Ernie, do you know if there’s a tech ref on AMM or is it in the application user guide? I’ve been so deep into trying to roll out standard costing fully for the last x years (along with upgrades and what not) that I feel so disconnected from the operations side of things where I started my career in Epicor with @skhan and the crew at Grand Rapids Chair.
The bin locations are defined on the Resource Group/Resource level(s). There is an input bin (where they pull their materials from) and output bin (where the material goes when its complete).
I assume you could make the output from the op10 resource a staging bin and the input of op20 resource would be the same staging bin?
It’s never a single bin as the output, they sometimes rack it and I think they want to see that location. I know that’s not great “flow”, but it happens and they don’t want to store these materials as they are one off materials that might get partially made in first shift and finished on third.
Okay, so this is a NEW process you’re trying to develop?
There is practically zero documentation about the technical side of AMM setup. The Fulfillment Workbench (which this is part of) is not covered AT ALL in the 2024.1 User Guide.
AMM (as @dcamlin says) uses location values and the “Auto Move” checkbox on the Resource Group (or Resource) as defaults. The system Field Help has pretty good information on how those fields operate.
If your operators move stuff to VARIOUS bins after an operation completes, you’ll have to figure out a way to let Epicor know that… because once you set up the LATHE RG to Output to Bin A12, that’s where Epicor will ALWAYS expect it to go. If an operator puts it in Bin B15, somebody has to tell Epicor. This is a PROCESS flow discussion… find out what the process is and then figure out how to make Epicor work with it.
I’ll ask the teams, but I’ll start by asking what is possible/supported. Are you saying that “somebody can tell epicor that they put it in a different place”?
