WIP Report

I was wondering if anyone had a WIP report that basically mirrors the
canned one but allows to sort by completed jobs only. The best scenario
would be if a programming guru out there could modify the existing
canned report with a check box to facilitate that sort option. If anyone
out there is interested you can contact me off the list at
tsarber@... to go over what it would cost.

We no longer allow attachments to files. To access/share Report Files,
please go to the following link: http://www.egroups.com/files/vantage/
(Note: If this link does not work for you the first time you try it, go to
www.egroups.com, login and be sure to save your password, choose My Groups,
choose Vantage, then choose Files. If you save the password, the link above
will work the next time you try it.)
Unless they change the rules. But count me in!

Has anyone managed to replicate the WIP report?

I would like to see the date completed and date closed added to the

Does anyone have a W.I.P report that was written in report writer? The V.P. of manufacturing here hates the canned one in Vantage
and from what I can see this could take me some time to develop one. Not that I'm trying to shirk my responsibilities but
it would sure make my life a lot easier if I could get one pre-made. It doesn't have to be a great one, anything that I could customized would be much welcomed.

Thanks for your time.

As a matter of fact I am writing one right now in Crystal. We wanted to be
able to run a wip report based on Customer Groups or sorted various ways. I
am at the point of verifying totals and ran across a problem. I am getting
differences in the vantage report labor and my report. I have verified that
my report is right. My report ties to the production detail and the
labordtl table yet the wip report does not. Has anyone experienced this
problem before. I was just about to call vantage support but thought I
would ask you guys first. (usually quicker that way). Once I get this
report done I will publish it on the website for those interested.

Sorry for the confusion I meant to say "My report ties to the Production
detail report". What I meant about the labordtl is that I am told that the
wip report labor totals come from the labordtl table yet in this situation
it is not correct. My report, the production detail report, and the records
from the labordtl table all tie but the Vantage Wip report does not.

Sorry, the actual transaction should be WIP-Mfg -- the transaction that
takes the $$ from the transferring job is Mfg-WIP and it is working on the
report.
The Wip reconciliation report reports the amount $ of inventory in
WIP. Does anyone ever need to have the quantities associated with
that wip amount? If so, how do you handle that? Did you develp a
report?
Good Morning Group,

We are still in the process of adjusting to 5.2, since migrating from 5.0 in
late November.
During the month end closure of January, one of the things that jumped out
at our accounting group was the WIP number in the subcontract column. The
number was -$49,000; it has always been a positive number. Historically, it
usually ran about 10,000 in the positive.

Has this happened to anyone else? We checked the GL reporting structure, and
everything seems to be in order. Any ideas where this number would possibly
come from?

Oh yes, I have been complaining about this since we upgraded to 5.1 last
March. Patch 311 is supposed to fix it but there is another problem with the
Wip Material calculation. Seems I have jobs that show a larger amount
distributed to Cost of Sales than what was actually posted. The result is
that WIP Material is understated and when the job closes, a large amount
"purges" from the job. What I don't understand is why we haven't heard more
about this problem from the people who are in 5.1. It jumped out at me the
very first month-end after upgrading.

When we tried a test upgrade from 5.1 to 5.2 our WIP totals where all off.
Epicor could never give us an acceptable answer as to why this happened. We
couldn't figure out if 5.1 was wrong or 5.2. If I remember correctly, it
was a considerable amount. This was the reason for us not upgrading to 5.2
at that time. Since then we have seen everyone else's problems and are
going to wait till 6.0.

Good Morning,

We are trying to clean up our WIP report by closing completing and closing
jobs that have shipped.
The report is about 1200 pages. Although we have reduced this report, there
are jobs showing up on the report that are closed through the job closing
feature.

Does anyone in have any insight as to what may be causing these closed jobs
to show up on the report? If so, how do we clean up?
We have discussed this with Vantage support, no one has come up with any
answers.

Directly from Vantage Help:

"Use this function to capture current cost-of-sales (COS) and
work-in-process (WIP) activity. Run this function periodically to calculate
the cost-of-sales of any shipments made from WIP, capture costs that have
been relieved from WIP, remove any closed jobs from WIP, and, optionally,
post inventory and WIP activity to your G/L. To keep your cost of sales and
WIP values accurate, you should run this function at regular intervals.
Epicor recommends running this function once each period, before closing the
period in general ledger."

I have been having problems with the WIP report for over a year now. First
there was a problem with the WIP Subcontract and WIP Material totals not
agreeing with the GL. The problem has to do with DMR's. If a subcontractor's
work is rejected, the WIP report was not taking recognizing that the cost of
the rejected parts was no longer in the job. This problem got fixed in 5.2.
There is still a problem with WIP material and it has to do with the DMR's
also. Seems that the system is not recognizing that the rejected parts are
no longer in the job and is adjusting for the rejects in WIP Material. The
result is that the system is Debiting WIP Material and Crediting COS to try
to adjust for the rejected amounts. My WIP material is over 37,000 out of
balance with the GL because of this. Technical support is reviewing the
problem.
