When Work Queue is accessed via MES, it “locks” the user into using that application only…they cannot open a secondary MES window for Job Tracker, or Part Tracker, for example. They must close the Work Queue window in order to be able to click/open any other MES application. It doesn’t appear that any of the other applications accessible via MES behave this way (i.e., can open Job Tracker, then click back to the MES menu and open Part Tracker simultaneously). Is this intended behavior, and is there a workaround?
Have tried opening Job Tracker in MES, then opening Work Queue…the Work Queue window that opens still “locks” the user into it. They can switch over to the Job Tracker window, but cannot click/use anything within it.
Leaving a reply here for anyone who looks for this in the future. Opened a ticket w/Epicor, who stated:
“This is in fact an intended behavior. But there is a related problem (PRB0166467) regarding this enhancement, it has been classified as high priority and it is currently on the waiting list without a target release provided. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this functionality”
One more note, for future reference. Found that if we customize the Work Queue form by placing a button on the form that calls the application we want to be able to switch to, it will open within the Work Queue app, allowing the user to switch back and forth without exiting either application.
