3 different issues- Embedding Quality Doc's in Vant age, Multi-

Judy:

A couple of thoughts -- it's early yet. On #1 we have specific inspection
info that is imbedded in our operation text and appears on the traveler...I
don't know if that would work for you, but we have dimension checks and
boxes for the stamps and so on. You might want to check that out, then you
only have one document (your job traveler) to keep track of.

Item # 3: Maybe you could use the user-defined fields in the job for that #
-- or use lot tracking for those part numbers -- then even after they are
stocked, you could pull the lot numbers onto the packing slip when they are
shipped. Lot numbers can be anything you want them to be, and can be
generated when the parts are received into stock. Of course, if you already
have a lot-tracking procedure in place, this may not work.

I'm always for trying to use what is already there, rather than re-invent
it.

Good luck on # 2--I'd try to make them match, or make them so different, it
would be completely obvious which plant things were from.

Subject: [Vantage] 3 different issues- Embedding Quality Doc's in
Vantage, Multi-pla nt part # question, and one other strange one

Hi,
I have a few different issues that I have been presented with and
wanted to know if anyone has any insight.
1.) Is anyone generating quality documents- (ok to run sheets, in
process inspection sheets, or final inspection sheets) through Vantage? My
thought is to have the part specific information in the VB forms in the ABOM
operations and generate report builder reports that are the form that shows
the production floor what they need to check, and they fill in the form.
2.) We are just opening another facility and we will have the same
part numbers in 2 different data bases, but they will have different ABOM's
basically because the different plants have different workcenters. Document
Control is having real issues with this, but I don't know if I need to tell
both plants they have to have the same workcenters. Nor can I because they
are not set up the same.
3.) We have 1 customer that wants us to include a specific number
on their shipments that is a sequential number starting at 100 on each of
their manufacturing lots. We tried to just use our job number, but it has
to start at 100 and we have to keep track of each number. Our only thought
right now is to write an access data base to pull that number on and put the
#on the job somewhere and I'm not sure how we were going to get it to the
packing slip because we ship out of inventory. Regardless, I'm not too
happy with this way, because whoever is entering the job is going to have
remember to enter it for that customer only. We may be able to do it for
each shipment, which then we could put it on the sales order, but still
whoever put the sales order on for that customer would have to remember to
put it on. Anyone have any requests like this, or any ideas if we could
generate this with Vantage somehow?
For your customer who: We have 1 customer that wants us to include a
specific number on their shipments that is a sequential number starting at
100 on each of
their manufacturing lots.

This sounds like a Purchase Order Number.

If I sound like I am rambling, it is called working too much, and
not enough time to get everything done! Thanks for any help you can offer.
