407c Bugs Blank Title 78286

We thought we had problems until we discovered that the records weren't
sorting by customer. Someone had changed the sort in search results,
saved the layout, and that caused us to 'think' we weren't seeing the
right results. After we reset the layouts, it seems to work for us. Hope
this helps.

We've been getting the same kind of sort/filter problems with 8.03.405A

The problems are worse for some users than others - and sometimes occur
for any user on particular machines.

Some of the problems have temporarily gone away after following this
fix/advice supplied by Epicor (via Cogita):
"...have you had the user delete the temporary files for vantage on
their computer yet? If no please follow the directions below and let me
know if this helps at all.

Browse to the following Directory location on the PC having the problem:
C:\Documents and Settings All Users\Application Data\Epicor\Vantage ...

Remove the Local Cache Files from your local PC:
Delete All of the versional labelled folders in these directories. i.e.
[8.03.xxx] including your current version folder It is possible that you
could have several folders of previous versions in this location
including the current version.

These are temporary cache files and will be regenerated by the
application if required

Once the folders are removed, launch the application again and you will
now have access without error."

...So this above fix does seem to work on some of our users...

But something does seem to still be wrong with certain filtering still
screwing up - and we have this logged.

This stinks when you are trying to do a full record search based on sort
criteria other than the default.

our test server today to test all my customizations.

We just installed 407c because we had a service call that Vantage would
not look at until we upgraded TO 407C. We had immediate issues.

- We could not bring up any customers through the search button.
- So I created a BAQ and then attached a search to it and made it
the default search option. BUT,
- the Customer Search Button still does not work. We have to get
the new search through the right-click context menu option

- we also had Vantage create some custom components for us and found
out that we will have to pay Vantage $$ for every upgrade to basically
recompile the customization.

- there were two other major issues also that I have not been brought
in yet to fix or Vantage gave a work-around for them.

If you're still on version 6, does Epicor tell you to upgrade to 9?



We are on 305K and will be moving to the latest version of 40x when we
get the chance because the number of calls that have resulted in
"Upgrade to latest patch" are starting to become too many for us. If I
get an answer like "Upgrade to 9" after I've just gone to 407x, I will
lose my mind.



Somebody please tell me there is a different tech support number to call
that has people that provide fixes for the release we are on....

It IS true that you cannot do negative subcontract job adjustments. I
found this out on Monday. Support keeps telling me it is fixed in
version 9...yeah, I'll get right on that install! I'm pushing them to
release a one-off for us...either that or convert our database back to
8.03.404 :-)

-cannot adjust labor records, but there is a fix for that.
-doing searches/lookups suck. It only shows 100 records at a time. This
stinks when you are trying to do a full record search based on sort
criteria other than the default.

I just upgraded to 407C this weekend and the filter for 100 customer records is glitchy, it doesn't return the 100 records I'm expecting. However, if I return all rows I can use the filter option and it works fine. Tech Support has suggested editing the .mfgsys too to return all rows or 1000 at a time, however, sometimes we do want to search for only a handful of records when we know what we are looking for and it currently randomly returns records not within the search criteria.

Joe -- We are on 6, and yes Epicor will tell us to upgrade to 9. They have told us there are no more fixes going into 6. Therefore, we are working on upgrading to 8.03.407C. It does get very irritating to have them say "that'll be fixed in 9"......

I just upgraded to 407C this weekend and the filter for 100 customer records is glitchy, it doesn't return the 100 records I'm expecting. However, if I return all rows I can use the filter option and it works fine. Tech Support has suggested editing the .mfgsys too to return all rows or 1000 at a time, however, sometimes we do want to search for only a handful of records when we know what we are looking for and it currently randomly returns records not within the search criteria.

Regarding the searches returning only 100 results, is there any improvement if you update default.mfgsys and change entry:
<DefaultSearchPageS ize value="1000" />

This will bring back 1000 entries at a time. Obviously this can be changed based on user preference.

It IS true that you cannot do negative subcontract job adjustments. I found this out on Monday. Support keeps telling me it is fixed in version 9...yeah, I'll get right on that install! I'm pushing them to release a one-off for us...either that or convert our database back to 8.03.404 :-)

Other issues

-cannot adjust labor records, but there is a fix for that.
-doing searches/lookups suck.. It only shows 100 records at a time. This stinks when you are trying to do a full record search based on sort criteria other than the default.

We've been getting the same kind of sort/filter problems with 8.03.405A

The problems are worse for some users than others - and sometimes occur for any user on particular machines.

Some of the problems have temporarily gone away after following this fix/advice supplied by Epicor (via Cogita):
"...have you had the user delete the temporary files for vantage on their computer yet? If no please follow the directions below and let me know if this helps at all.

Browse to the following Directory location on the PC having the problem:
C:\Documents and Settings All Users\Application Data\Epicor\Vantage ...

Remove the Local Cache Files from your local PC:
Delete All of the versional labelled folders in these directories. i.e. [8.03.xxx] including your current version folder It is possible that you could have several folders of previous versions in this location including the current version.

These are temporary cache files and will be regenerated by the application if required

Once the folders are removed, launch the application again and you will now have access without error."

...So this above fix does seem to work on some of our users...

But something does seem to still be wrong with certain filtering still screwing up - and we have this logged.
