The "Shift On" is represented by $Y
The "Tab" is represented by $I
The "Shift Off" is represented by $Z
So the bar code to SHIFT+TAB would be something like
$Y$I$Z

Also here is a Keyboard Equivalent Chart that may be of
some use:

Key Board Key Bar Code Equivalent
F1 $A
F2 $B
F3 $C
F4 $D
F5 $E
F6 $F
F7 $G
TAB $I
PAGE UP $K
PAGE DOWN $L
ENTER $M
F8 $N
F9 $O
F10 $P
DEL $Q
INSERT $R
LEFT ARROW $S
RIGHT ARROW $T
DOWN ARROW $U
UP ARROW $V
HOME $W
END $X
SHIFT ON $Y
SHIFT OFF $Z
ESC %A
CTRL ON %B
CTRL OFF %C
ALT ON %D
ALT OFF %E
; %F
< %G
= %H
> %I
? %J
[ %K
\ %L
] %M
^ %N
_ %O
{ %P
} %R
~ %S
SPACE ,
! /A
" /B
# /C
$ /D
% /E
& /F
' /G
( /H
) /I
* /J
+ /K
, /L
/ /O

Hope this is of some help.

This may have been discussed, but will ask again anyway.

Has anyone found a way to barcode SHIFT+TAB? If so, what
did you use?

I think most IBM AT/XT compatible keyboards interpret the ASCII character DC4 (decimal code 20) as a Back Tab. Depending on what is producing the barcode (RB or CR or ?) try using the ASCII character function (something like CHR(20) or ASCII(20) ) to assign this to a variable or function field (maybe call it "BT" or "BTab" ) and inseting this in the barcoded sting field. Never done it so not sure if this will work but it is where I would start.

I don't believe that standard code 3 of 9 can encode non-printable
characters. You would need a barcode encoding system that gives you the full
ASCII character set like Code 39 Extended or Code 128.

Even then, you're going to have some trouble. The shift, control and alt
combinations are not mapped to ASCII characters. So while the Code 39
extended can give you a horizontal tab character (ASCII 9), there's no way
to indicate that the shift key (and/or control and/or alt) keys are down in
the barcode itself without some changes to the program reading the barcode.

I am assuming you're asking this because the user accidentally misses an
entry and you want to "backup" a field? One way to make sure the right data
in the right field is to prefix a character to the start of the data that
indicates what the data is for. The Automotive Industry Action Group did
this will their standard label. There's a letter 'P' before every
part-number and a letter 'Q' before the quantity, etc. The host program can
either read each field in any order until the entire form is filled OR it
can prompt in order and give an error message if the user scans the wrong
field. Again, you need to build the "smarts" into your host program.

Hope that helps. Have a great Holiday.

The "Shift On" is represented by $Y
The "Tab" is represented by $I
