Subject: [Vantage] 6.1Collating - Travelers

Help?

Sometime in the past a predecessor of mine solved this riddle, but can't
remember how...

We have our Production Control Coordinator able to collate from the windows
world, but can no longer get collate to work properly when printing
travelers.

If we print five travelers for a job, we get five page one, then five page
two etc....

Ideas?

Before I re-invent the wheel, I was wondering if anyone had a report
already created either in Crystal or Report Builder which shows the
activity on jobs (similar to how job tracker shows it).

We have different families of parts that get stamped and then have
several different secondary operations that need to be done. I have been
asked to develop a report which shows all the open jobs for these
different families of parts and the quantities completed on each of the
operations for each part number so that we can better schedule our spot
welders, drill presses, machining centers, outside vendors, etc.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Kathy,

If your spot welders, drill presses etc are identified as work centers, you
might be able to get information needed to schedule them on a short term
detail level from the Priority Dispatch report.

We have queue time ahead of some of our CNC centers so that prior ops are
scheduled by the system to give three days between when parts are due in CNC,
and when they are due out, so that we can take the three day WIP buffer and
schedule it by hand using a magnet board.

That way MRP and prior / subsequent work centers are scheduled at a macro
level by Vantage, but we have flexibility as to what happens within the queue
time window to specifically and discretely keep the CNC machines optimized,
without having to worry about the complexity and rigidity of finite
scheduling within Vantage down to the hour / day.

The only problem with that report is that it gives you the total run
quantity for the job, the supervisor needs to know what is left in WIP
at each operation as we tend to batch quantities as the parts move
through the jobs.

I had this very same request from my VPO two days ago. I created a
report in CorVu using the Jobhead, Joboper, and Jobmtl tables. It is by
work center, start date, and includes the material for that job. It is
for jobs released, not closed, and operation is not complete. It
includes est. setup hrs, act. set hrs, est. prod hrs, act prod hrs, run
qty, and qty completed. I hope this helps.
