9.05 Install Problems - Appservers

I remember an earlier thread that mentioned that on some versions of 905
you had to turn on verbose logging on the app server for the app servers
to keep running.

Brad,

That's an unacceptable response from support. I'd push that one - keep
the
ticket open and if they aren't helpful, as to get their management
involved.

Subject: [Vantage] 9.05 Install Problems - Appservers

I did a test install of 9.05 twice now with the same outcome. The first
time
i start up the appservers, it seems to start ok. After I try logging in
as
manager, manager and then the error messages begin. I start receiving
Progress Client error messages.

Then i get a message from the client saying:
"Unable to connect to the AppServer. Details: Could not connect to the
AppServer: General ERror: No connection could be made because the target
machine actively refused it."

I then look in the Progress Explorer Tool and the AppServers have
stopped.

Anyone have any ideas? I submitted a call to support but received this
back
from them:
"Something on that computer is preventing that appserver from starting.
You will have to look closely on that box to figure out what it is. I
have
no further information at this time."

So much for our maintenance....

Also forgot to mention the error message I receive from Progress Explorer Tool when checking the status of the AppServers.

"Progress Client has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Under details, it shows this:

"szAppName: _proapsv.exe szAppVer: 10.2.1.1390 szModName: _proapsv.exe szModVer: 10.2.1.1390 offset: 002854fb"

Thanks to someone at support, the problem is solved. He loaded the Demo
Database and tweaked some settings and all seems to be good. Thanks!
