A 5.0 Issue to report

Nancy,

Possibly. Although I don't give anyone access to report builder but myself.
If someone needs a report I'll build it and move it to the Eman (Vantage)
Menus. Neither do I give them access to the CUSTOM REPORTS list.
Everything gets placed on the menus. It was possible that the selection
list was parked open (duh) so it was probably my fault. I implimented your
suggestion though of making the Vantage.vtg file read only. So far no
issues

Does anyone know if the Stock Status as of 12/31/00 works. Sounds like a
stupid question but one of my users said that it's the current Stock Status
with whatever date you put in at the top. I need to give this to our
Auditors so it's kind of important. We are on version 4.
Ed, The problem is, the system gives you quantities at 12/30 only for those
items you have on hand today. If you had a quantity at 12/30, but have none
now, it will ignore that part. I hope this helps.

If you uncheck the item that says excludes parts with zero quantities it
should work ok. This will give you a longer list, but it works. It only took
me about three months of adjustments to inventory before I figured out what
was going on.

Ed;
The Stock Status as of any date will work, with one exception, there is a
check box to exclude parts with zero quantities do not check this box; it is
based upon today's inventory status not the date you asked for. Otherwise
we have found this works quite fine.

I've just encountered an issue that may or may not effect your users. The
workstation next to mine (Controller's) was not able to start Vantage.
Previously it had logged on with no issues the day before. There were no
obvious issues visible and a reinstallation of Vantage had no effect.
Earlier in the day I had been working in Crystal and Report Builder at the
same time. Because of a busy day both Crystal and RB had been idle for
nearly an hour and a half. The only other Vantage complaint that came in
was where previously used reports had stopped working. Ultimately, I closed
down RB and Crystal. As RB closed an error flashed on about a stale request
handle. Crystal closed with no error. Once these programs were closed,
the Controllers workstation was able to log on. Users already logged onto
the network were unaffected, except that their RB reports wouldnt run. Once
those error messages were cleared from the their screens those reports
worked fine again. Apparently, if you leave RB open too long with no
activity it will lock out users logging in. Once closed RB apparently
releases what ever file handle it has grabbed and allows the users to log
back in, and it will apparently lock out the runtimes to run other RB
reports. This was very weird.

Shirley,
I have always had problems with Report Builder, when a user leaves the
selection screen up for selecting a report or library. If you have a report
open, it doesn't seem to care, but leave one of the selection screens open
and no one gets in. Was this the case?
