Adding Vacation time to a Resource

We are trying to add vacation time to a resource. Our resources are set up to drive off the resource group calendar. We tried adding an exception to an individual resource and it doesn’t seem to schedule around this exception. Any ideas on how to handle vacation time for an individual resource?

Calendar for the resource should allow this by creating non-work days, but if you share that same calendar with other resources, they too will have the non-work day once it’s added to the shared calendar.
