Adjusting Shipping Qtys

Very well stated. The way Vantage (we're on V. 4) works, we are faced with
the choice of overinflating the order as you did, or losing documentation
history by using miscellaneous invoices for the rest of the order. It's a
matter of making a choice between the lesser of the evils.

I like your suggestions to Epicor.

Subject: [Vantage] Adjusting Shipping Qtys

After entering the credit memo to correct your sales and accounts
receivable accounts, the only way to get the order back in shape is
to add the quantity on the errant packing slip back to the order.
This will allow you to ship the full quantity originally ordered,
even though the order will show a quantity greater than the PO you
received from your customer. I generally use the memo pad on the
order to explain why the additional parts were added back to the
order. As far as your "On Time Delivery" reports go, there is no way
other than to filter out that packing slip or invoice from the
records selected.

I have made the suggestion to Vantage any chance I get to improve the
functionality of the Credit Memo so that if it is related to an order
that it not only fixes the sales and a/r accounts but puts the part
back into inventory and opens the item back on the order so that it
can be shipped properly. This would also work for customer returns
of defective parts, keeping ALL systems in check. It could work with
the DMR system which also only does a small part of keeping all areas
affected in balance
