Admin access to install Epicor?

Do users need to be admins on their local device to install or update Epicor? or can you get buy with lesser security access.

If you leave the default install location as “Program Files”, then it may have an issue. It really did back a year or two ago with UAC and stuff before Microsoft changed the way that works.

We learned to alter the install location to “c:\Epicor” and it seem to not get tangled up with user permissions.

(SIDE NOTE) Wont it be nice when we are all upgraded to Kinetic, and there is no client to install anymore? This problem will go away.

@timshuwy - yes it will.
Until then we still need to use the client installer and need to find a way to install and get updates to Epicor without giving a user admin rights on their local device.

@mike - thank you. We might give that a try. We are looking to do 2 factor authentication to users with admin rights, and if we can get by with a lesser number of users with admin rights to their device that would be preferred.
