Any better tree search functionality on it's way?

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any new tools in the pipeline for better tools for finding things in the BOM trees in various places in E-10. We have very large BOMs and it would be nice to find materials, as well as assemblies by part number, find asm seq would be great too. Not to mention a find next (like every Microsoft product has had for at least a decade now) and find all button.

Has anyone tackled any kind of customization that does this? I wouldn’t know where to even start to get to that part of the program…

Have you tried Enterprise Search? (Switch from the Cloud view to the Drop-Down view) You can search by Part, Description, whatever and then right-click to the item that you’re interested in.

Will it bring you to the location in the tree on the job so you can make changes? It’s not really finding it that’s a problem, I have a bunch of dashboards to search in various ways, it actually getting to it in the tree with 1500+ assembly sequences, 7+ levels deeps with 3000+ materials on a single job. You can get there, it’s just slow…

We have played around with enterprise search. I haven’t been impressed so far.

If you select the “JobMatl” drop down, that should lead you to a Job/Assy. BTW, you can customize the BAQs used for the search and add your own items.

Just a thought.

I’ll check it out. Looks like we have to get it turned back on. It didn’t get turned on when we went from 10.0 to 10.1 and we’ve never noticed.
