Asset management

No problem, overall I do like the module and what it will do for us. There are some picky points however and some gotchas but nothing too bad.

Rob,

It was about as clear as mud late last night but makes sense now.

Thanks - & I may take you up on some help if I get stuck.

Robert,

I actually am on the back end of implementing that module. I think what you do with those and the separation they contain is up to you and/or your needs. We utilized them to direct costs and group to different segments in our GL. I set up classes to link assets department control codes (GL Control Code Entry: Type - Department) and the groups refer to various Account Contexts through via a different control code altogether (GL Control Code Entry: Type - Asset Group). So Assets we hold at the company level (buildings, land, etc) got a Code of Admin (Department 00), then buildings facilities are in the group Building which ties to a Control Code which you use to designate a list of accounts for the various account contexts (we use a simple two segments in our setup). If I was clear as mud with regards to what how I'm approaching this you know where to find me.

(Epicor 9.05.702A) - We're just implementing asset management not being a finance wiz, I'm trying understand some basics:

I see a lot of redundancy in the data related to Asset Groups Asset Classes. What is the difference in their function/purpose?

Any simple examples would be illuminating much appreciated.
