Just ran into an interesting issue. We have attachments set to go to a share \\myserver\E9Attachments\

Today while running some maintenance I ran a comparison of the files in that folder and the files referenced in XFileRef. It turns out there are several Physical files in that folder that are not in XFileRef.
I question a few folks and they seem to think that the files attachment records are being removed from within Epicor somehow which is why the file is physically on the server but not referenced in the XfileRef table.

Has anyone seen this before ?

I haven't seen that behavior before; but are you sure people are just not using that share as a manual file storage location?

 

Sounds like it's time for a Changelog on that table.

Yeah actually I have a backup of the DB where I can see the files existed... its weird I doubt the users are going and deleting the stuff its over 10K documents. IF it was 5 or 100 I would blame the users.

Yes,

 

JOB ENTRY has been removing attachments since I went live last august.

Users make some field changes unrelated to the REVISION field on a job and press SAVE.

It’s about 1 out of 10 jobs they change the REVISION will get written out with a BLANK space in front of it.

Epicor’s programming logic performs as designed and removes the attachments since the revision has changed but is not on file.

I run a dashboard and pickup jobs with no attachments.

I open the job, select the DROP DOWN on the REVISION field, and select the revision on file which doesn’t have the space in front.

Press SAVE and the program re-adds all the attachments back onto the job.

Hmm that's interesting, most of the stuff we are seeing is in Invoice and InvoiceDtl. I shall do some digging
