Automated Vantage 5.1 Backup Batch File Settings

That's probably it. It works when you are logged in because you have the
drive mapped. When you are not logged in there are no drives mapped.

We do something similar to this in that we copy the backup files to another
computer after they have been created. In order for it to work you need to
give administrative rights to the schedule service so it is able to map a
drive.

Feel free to contact me offlist if you need more info.

Would anyone using Vantages Batch files for backup share the batch files?
Mine quit working after the 5.1 update. It seems like it waits for a screen
prompt then times out. Is there a new command line switch that needs to be
included to ignore prompts or did anything change with 5.1? The Epicor
documents regarding online backups with batch files only seem to apply
through version 4.0. Go figure?? Any help is very appreciated.

Merry Christmas To Everyone in the group. Have a safe and happy holidays.

Here is our backup batch file for 5.1:

e:
cd \epic51\progress\bin
probkup online e:\epic51\vantage\db\vantage.db c:\backup\backup.1
exit

Hope that helps!

Might not be the same issue but in going to 5.2 (from 4.0) I noticed that I
had to be very sure to check all the drive letter (physical on the server
not mapped) and the EPICxx folder name in both BACKVAN.BAT in Vantage folder
and VNTGBKUP.BAT in the Progress\Bin folder. For some reason these did not
get updated to the correct new locations.

Brian,

Thanks for the layout. Mine was pretty similar but called the vntgbkup
file. I made the changes and ran it. It ran fine. So I scheduled it using
at commands on a NT 4.0 server but when it ran it creates an error saying it
cannot find or modify the backup file. I am backing up to another server
via a shared folder to have it backed up via tape at night, would that cause
the error??

Also, I have another database we use to store label formats for customers
that is used in a custom program, how would I add it to my backup? I've
tried just adding a line essentially the same as yours right after the
vantage backup line but it doesn't seem to work at all, Any suggestions??

Thanks again,

Darren
