BackVan & VntgBkup

Or you can have the Backup 2 write to a separate directory.

I need a BackVan & VntgBkup expert to review my work!

I am in the process of creating a midday backup procedure to
supplement my nightly backup. Both backups will use Epicor's
BackVan and VntgBkup but I would like the midday backup to
create a separate backup file from the nightly backup. I do
not want the midday backup to over write my nightly backup
and vice versa.

Here's how I think I need to accomplish this:

1) Create a BackVan2.bat identical to my original BackVan
except change the final command line:

from: Vntgbkup online f:\epicor\vantage....
f:epicor\backup\backup.backup.1
to: Vntgbkp2 online f:\epicor\vantage....
f:epicor\backup\backup.backup.2

2) Create a VntgBkp2.bat identical to my original except
change all references of backup.txt to backup2.txt.

3) Create an additional AT command to run BackVan2 at
midday.

Am I even close? I'm not a techy so you're help is
appreciated!

Thanks for your input!

Marty:
You're close. All is ok except the "Vntgbkp2 online" needs to be Vntgbkup
as in the original. It's the ".2" that specifies a backup file separate
from the nightly ".1". Vntgbkup is the batch program that accomplishes this.
You would end up with "Vntgbkup online f:\epicor\vantage....
f:epicor\backup\backup.backup.2"

You can use any text editor to read the comment lines (the lines beginning
with "REM") in the vntgbkup.bat file to get an idea of how it all works.

Reminder: be sure to include the ".2" file in any nightly backup routines
so it also gets stored offline.
