Barcode

OK lets try this, ew are just starting to get ready to use data collection in the shop. I'm trying to make a simple traveler with barcodes: Job: Asm: Seq.No. WkCtr. Description.

For the BarCodes, I created my Calculated Field for the JobNum. "*" + TRIM(JobOper.JobNum) + "*" and that worked fine. It worked for WCCode (workcenter) also. However, every time I tryed to create a calculated field for "*" + TRIM(JobOper.AssemblySeq)+ "*" or "*" + TRIM(JobOper.PprSeq)+ "*" I get an Invalid argument when I try to Verify it.

Whats so different about these two fields?

Thanks for your help.

It might be really subtle to see but are you sure there is a space on each
side of the + operators? I see in both your examples there is no space
between ...Seq) and the +. If these were cut/pasted from the actual
functions then this is probably the cause.

PS - Your message, sent at 10:55am was received here at 1:24pm. Last time I
saw delays like this was the week of 9/11/01 when Yahoo diverted servers to
news coverage. Maybe there has been another DDoS attack on Internet
infrastructure like Monday?

It might be that the trim function only works with string type fields.

JobOper.AssemblySeq and JobOper.PprSeq are numeric fields. You have to
convert them to alpha (text) to use in your context.

I replied to this message yesterday (Wednesday) around 5:00 EDT and have not
yet received back to myself. I went into Yahoo messages to see if it was
received by Yahoo - it was. I also discovered there are at least 10 messages
from yesterday that I never received. Come on, Yahoo get it together! I am
having no problems with several other mail sources.

I am trying to implement barcode to login and out of jobs in Vantage.
What barcode format should be used to allow for the $M and other control
characters? Also what printer are you printing the barcode with and are
you using a soft font?

Thanks,

Rich
