Booked Orders

We put bpms on to store when order releases are created in OrderRel.Date01 field.

We used an in-transaction Data Directive on Order rel with:
condition the OrderRel.Date01 field of the added row is equal to the  ?  expression

and action the OrderRel.Date01 field of the added row is equal to the  ?  expression

We also discovered that when an order was copied we needed to clear out the old Date01 field and set it to today.  For this we have post-processing method directive on salesOrder.copyOrder with no condition and action synchronously execute abl.... with the following code:

for each OrderRel where OrderRel.OrderNum = NewOrderNum exclusive-lock.

assign OrderRel.date05 = Today.

End.

I created a dashboard/report that shows the days bookings. However the
one problem I see is that if an order is cancelled (deleted) or a line
is deleted because of a cancellation, the bookings doesn't reflect this.
It will show a positive booking for the line when it is added, but no
negative booking when it is deleted.

How do others report on this?

Thanks....

I'm not familiar with dashboards but if I was writing a report I would just
link the booking to the SO Line so if the line was deleted it would not show
up.

Actually it does (at least on v 6.1). The problem may be if you're linking the bookdtl table to the orderdtl table. When the order is deleted the booking record is created but the order record is gone. Not sure if you can make a left outer join on the dashboard...but that's what you'll need.

Ben you also have to watch dates. If you create an order today and
delete it tomorrow your booking for today stays the same and a negative
will be created for that amount (in the bookdtl table) on the date it is
deleted.

I built a Crystal report which uses the BookDtl and BookOrd tables. I
have the BookType field in the report and it shows whether there was a
Change, Deletion or Addition. I have Booked Sales Orders turned on in
the System Configuration, Order Management. I am also logging order
changes in the Business Activity Manager. Don't know if this will help
you or not.

I have been using the BookOrd, BookDtl, and BookRel tables to report incoming
sales to the Sales Manager. Since .400, the numbers in the table aren't adding
up like they did in .305.

I've never seen any standard reports for these tables. Does anyone else use
them? VBI maybe?

Thanks,

Mark W.

Good morning, everybody:

We have a report that displays all the booked order by order date.   The problem is we have no way to display new lines to orders that have been created outside the original order date.

Looking for some feedback on what others are doing to display just orders enter and values or those orders.  I guess using the Booked Orders report would be nice, but that's more of a forecast tool.

Regards,

---SF

I've been going about this all wrong.

Looks like the proper way is too use the Book* tables to generate this report.

Thanks!
I always found this to be somewhat of a grey area depending on what practices an individual company uses. What is a booked order for your company? For us, it’s simply an open release on an approved sales order… Anything less solid is put in the forecast module and those are displayed side by side.

Rob,

Thanks for the feedback.

Problem. I noticed that these tables do not pick up any miscellaneous charges.  Our company does lots of heattreat and has very old open orders they had lines with miscellaneous charges.

Any idea how to include?

Thanks,

Just to be clear, the tables you are referring to are orderline, orderrel?

Ok, I’ve just used the order tables for what we need. I’ve not looked at those too hard before.

BookDtl is useful for looking at the history of an order, but everything you probably want is in OrderHed, OrderDtl, OrderRel and OrderMsc.
About the most useful thing you can get from BookDtl that you can't get from OrderDtl is if customer changes a quantity, and you need the actual date of that change.

What if there is an addition to the order, i.e., a line is added, but the order date stay the same.  How can you query the date of the release if the order date on the header stays the same?

Thanks.

We are actually use both Bookings and Orders tables.  The data never matches up for that same reason.

Thanks.

You're talking about two different dates, date the order was entered, date the customer needs it, or date you need an order line to be released. Then there are the dates when changes to the order occurred, such as when someone opened Sales Order Entry and added a line, or changed a release quantity.
The dates you see in Order Entry represent the first, and BookDtl along with Change Logs represent the second kinds.
BookDtl links easily with OrderDtl, just be aware that it's a one to many.
