Can you change the reported quantity against a job after its closed?

We had an employee report the total quantity of the job as scrap on the final operation and it was closed with 0 finished and 2 scraped. After quality checked the pieces it was found that they were not scrap but can be used.

How do I go back into a job that is closed and correct the quantity? Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it’s the “Job Closing” menu item where you can re-open a job and close it again after you make the qty entry.

This does let me re-open the job but it doesn’t allow me to enter a new quantity then in Job Entry. Would I have to do this edit in another screen?

I would look at job adjustment

You can also edit the labor entry in Time and Expense.

Actually - yes Job Adjustment - forgot about this one.

Alternatively, you could also just do an inventory adjustment if you don’t need the job to be 100% correct. Which reminds me, how can you alter the scrap 2 qty because Job Adjustment doesn’t allow for editing that value… You may need to go back to Time and Expense Entry and modify the MES labor record where the scrap was recorded…

When I go into T&E entry it won’t let me edit it. I am guessing its because its from months ago it has since been posted? Not sure on that.

Yeah if the job is closed, you can reopen it, but if the costs are posted it’s too late.

well yes - once things are posted, they are permanent.

Job is closed and it has been posted. RIP

So this leaves me with the option of just adjusting the inventory it seems?

Yeah, your efforts for wanting and trying to do the right thing are noble but sometimes you have to punt.

Yep. And whatever accounting needs to do in the prior period to offset the Scrap (like adjust for COGM/COGS and inventory values) if they want to.
