Why would Epicor tell us to change a PO that has already been issued to the vendor over a week ago to increase the quantity through Change PO Suggestions instead of telling us to create a new PO?
That’s just how Epicor’s logic works. If the PO is still open, Epicor assumes you can change it.
You can force Epicor to create a new PO Suggestion by checking ‘Lock Qty’ on the PO Release.
You can prevent Change PO Suggestions for date changes by checking ‘Lock Date’ as well.
We have a Data Directive that automatically checks ‘Lock Qty’ and ‘Lock Date’ checkboxes, because typically we don’t want Change Suggestions.
Just be aware that if you choose to Lock Qty, you will never get any Cancel PO suggestions.
On the part master there’s also planning parameter fields like Days of Supply, Reschedule In Delta, & Reschedule Out Delta to get more control over when you want it to give you those suggestions and in what window you don’t because of things like it’s too late to update the PO.
