Why is it not possible to change the Inventory UOM, even while staying in the same UOM class?
We have lots of problems with people creating a part with the wrong class and/or IUM. The mistake isn’t usually found until it’s too late (transactions have occurred).
I could see not being able to change the Class as every UOM in the one class would need to have a translation to a UOM in the other.
But why can’t a part’s IUM be changed from OZ to GA (both are UOM’s of the same class)?
Besides making a new P/N (with the correct class and IUM), what can be done?
EDIT: I’m talking about the UOM Conversion program, not just being able to change it in Part Master.
(sorry Trinity :)
You can use the Part UOM Conversion. You just type the part, choose the Class, then choose the new UOM. There can’t be any active demand, open POs, inventory, etc when making the change.
CC is Cycle Count. Go to Cycle Count Part Selection and find the Warehouse and Cycle Sequence. Then Remove the Part from that Cycle Sequence. If you have a lot of Warehouses/Cycle Sequences, you may need to create a BAQ to help you find the correct Sequence…
Ahhh … this is in the Test company - where many things are (as you’d guess) “tested”. Someone probably made and abandoned, a Physical inventory in the Test Co.
