Commissions

Same issue here and it causes no end of grief at month-end when various adjustments have to be made. Very often two reps will split a customer's part sales only on certain parts, often depending on if the particular part is shipped to the owner customer or their contract manufacturer in another rep's territory. We handle with a VB form note as a reminder and printed charts for the sales order entry people but mistakes still occur. Our commissions are reported via an Access database populated from an RB export due to the clunky array setup on the commission splits in the sales order table. Every month I have to "massage" the Access table with corrections.

Perhaps by Sonoma they will have made a seperate commissions table structure and could split on part as well as customer. BUt I sort of doubt it.

Just curious about the way commissions work in 5.2 (each rep. is associated
with one commission rate that defaults into sales order entry from the rep.
that is tied to the customer on that order), has changed at all with 6.1.
Our commissions are determined more by the part or project instead of by the
individual customer so we have to do a lot of manual changes on the
commissions in order entry that many times do not get done leading to
inaccurate sales commissions. Does anyone else have the need to associate
reps and commissions (or multiple reps and split commissions) by part number
and if so, how have you handled this?

Tim,

We had the same situation. We ended up creating a VB Form field called "Part Owner". The only down side to this scenario is that all parts must exist in the Part Maintenance file for this method to work. Wasn't a problem for us since we added the parts anyway due to our standard cost environment.
