Configurator, Parts on the Fly, Q-build mBoM - Seeing The Methods

Morning All,

We are in the midst of engineering, production, and planning, and we are looking specficially at configurator

what we are doing is letting the configurator make parts on the fly that we can in essence use once in a specific job, without keeping the part master record (one less thing to update right!)

however, we are struggling with “seeing the BoM” for the configured item in the quote

We are having to use Plan as Assembly, as the ops team cannot handle the WIP movements in the plant, we are also using Lots and Days of Supply to pull demands and group them

we are planning on getting the configurator ready for most products on go live, but when we use it, we cant see if its pulled in on the quote the full method… just the top level item

we will be using CAD-Link and Qbuilds mBoM also to piece into all this, however first things first, we need to understand if there is a way with Plan as assembly we can see a full Indented eBoM for the part on the fly

Thanks all as usual!

Mitch

From what you’ve described, check if you have the “View as Assembly” checked. This allows you to drill into the method, even though they will be separate jobs.

It can help if you remove the configurator from the discussion and manually build the MOM so it looks and works the way you want. Once you have it the way you want you’ll have what you need the configurator to do.
