Connecting to Vantage Database using ODBC

If you are serious about modifing data in vantage use probuilder and
4GL not ODBC. Progress does not have an ODBC driver that you can
trust to modify your data. Hardcore Progress user will tell you
that the ODBC driver was written to provide open access for other
applications not as a primary way to add and remove data.

Support has a document detailing how to setup ODBC that they can email to you. I just went thru it recently for 6.0. We used to use the old Merant 3.5 ODBC but the newer DirectConnect(Merant) 3.6 SQL92 version with working well now. Part of the instructions detail how to setup a user version that prevents them from changing data so you may be able to reverse engineer to allow changes. BUT!!!!! Dangerous territory, tread carefully or you can really corrupt the database. Always try it out on a TEST database you can afford to lose. Also, if you go messing around and break something Epicor support will probably not help you fix it. Certain fields like user fields and VB form fields ought to be relatively safe but still test first.
