Consultant Blank Title 74969

Hi Andrew. You might want to start a new post to ask this question.

Are you opposed to Epicor consulting? We went live a little over a year ago and still utilize Epicor's consultants to assist with some process development and customization. We have had good experiences with our accounting consultants. We've had mixed reviews on the production end of things.

We have a Windows Vista user who is experiencing the blue screen of death after the client was installed. Have not seen much on Windows Vista problems on here. Anyone else experiencing issues with Windows Vista running a client?

Thanks Dan. I'll assume it is the client PC and go from there

For troubleshooting, try making that user a local admin of his/her PC.

I've had to do that on a few workstations and it resolved some of the issues....

We have one user running Vista. Only problem has been complete inability to use help due to Vista help only using XML version of help files.

As a side note....Microsoft is ending mainstream XP support on April 14. No bug fixes and only critical security updates until 2014. Gee, I'm just about done converting our Windows 2000 users to XP, not to mention the data collection PCs happily running Windows-98.

Todd,

For Vantage help on Windows Vista we did not have to turn off any security settings. But we did have to add some registry settings. You can copy and paste the following text into a text file and name it something like vant32hlp.reg. Then you can either double click on it to install or add it to a script.

Vista 32 bit:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]

"UrlAllowList"="N:\\vantage\\HELP\\vnhelp_enu.chm;file://;"

Vista 64 bit:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]

"UrlAllowList"="N:\\vantage\\HELP\\vnhelp_enu.chm;file://;"

We are looking for a Vantage consultant to help us take the next step in
our ERP implementation. We are looking for someone to help us create
some Progress Reports, BAQ's, Vantage customizations, and to help us
re-program our configurator. We understand that this may be a large
under taking, but we do not want to hire someone fulltime as it may be a
limited undertaking. We have several individuals currently in our
company that can maintain Vantage but do not have enough hours in the
days for these undertakings. Has anyone had really good luck with any
consultants? Would you be willing to share their name and contact
information?

Thanks. We've had those issues for a long time with XP and have fixed them with the registry settings. But our lone Vista user has run into issues with Vista not being able to deal with the type of help file Vantage uses. I just did a search a now see that this has been addressed by Microsoft... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607 where WinHlp32.exe is available for download. We'll give this a try too.

Also, with regard to the ItssRestrictions key there is another that can affect help that I have found I needed from time to time...

Create Key...[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\HHRestrictions]
Note: The HHRestrictions key is different from the previously suggested ItssRestrictions key
2. Add to this a String Value...UrlAllowList with the path to the help folder where the .chm resides
Mapped drive letter might not work so use \\server\epicor\mfgsys61\help path format
3. If Vantage is running close & restart
