Consultants (again) was GL Acct for Misc Invoice lines in Epicor

Thank you Mark. Excellent feedback and insight.

As a side note, who is currently the moderator of this group? Is it yourself
or Manasa?

There are several but I am not one of them. You can see the moderators for
any Yahoo! Group by logging onto the web portion of the site, select
members and choose the Moderator tab.

Jim asks:

Manasa, do you permit the publishing of full business contact information
in the footer of the email postings to this group?

This is quite an old group. It got busy in 2000 when Vantage 4 was the
current technology. In Internet time that is an eternity. The users back
then wanted a group that would help them implement their ERP system. What
they did not want was to be solicited. Period. Over time, consultants got
clever and asked their customers to give testimonials. That was stopped as
it was still selling. Even Epicor and the Epicor Users Group was slapped
down for soft-selling themselves.

There must be some wisdom in this setup. Very few online communities last
this long and stay this active. Looking though the history of the messages
one will find:

If you're looking for a consultant, ask for recommendations OFFLINE. They
can be from the vendors themselves or happy clients.

Do NOT contact people unless they asked to be contacted.

Do NOT ask people to call them. The list is there to share answers.

Vendors SHOULD demonstrate their competancy through answers. They don't
have to be full solutions for free but they should guide people and let
them know that you know your stuff.

Letting people know you are a vendor is OK in your signature. However most
newsgroups detest long signatures and legal disclaimers since they waste
space and bandwidth.

This is a closed list. Nobody has a right to be here and the moderators can
ban anyone for any reason. The rules have been discussed, and based on the
longevity of the list, must have some merit. There are other lists if users
or vendors don't like this one.

While the search capability isn't the greatest, I was able to find these
previous discussions easily.

What has not been discussed in this Google Facebook world is what can
people do with the information on this list - like selling demographic or
sales information to others. I'm sure that will come up some day but for
now this is what we know. Live it. Love it. Or leave it.

:-)
