Correction to Posted Labor Transaction

Yep. Someone isn't looking at things on a daily basis? Sounds like the
time for a business process change.

The Capture COS/WIP function has already been run (our month end is not
the actual last day of the month) so it sounds like the journal
adjustment is the way to go. I am not so much worried about the labor
hours being incorrect on a job but rather that the pay hours will be
wrong for payroll.

Anyone know of a way to fix a posted labor transaction that has the wrong Pay Hours? Someone forgot to clock out and so an excessive amount of labor hours were posted. This needs to be fixed from a financial perspective and a payroll perspective (we do not use the Payroll module but data is exported from Vantage into our Payroll system). I don't think there is an "approved" way to do this but I am thinking along the lines of making a manual adjustment to the GL to handle the finance part and then updating the labor records in the DB so the export to Payroll is accurate. I know what you are thinking...making changes in the DB is not supported and is generally frowned upon. But I think in some circumstances it is OK as long as you know what you are doing and are willing to take the risk.

Anyone know of a better way? Are there any implications to changing the LaborHed and LaborDtl records after they have been Posted?

Thanks in advance,
Aimee
You can always go into Labor Entry and update the timecard. Timecards
are updateable until transferred to Vantage payroll or the capture
COS/WIP is run. After that point you would have to do a job adjustment
to change any WIP information and a G/L journal entry to change the
financial information. I would think you would have plenty of time to
catch the error especially with the labor edit report. The end of the
month would be the only real problem time.
