Kathy,
I know this was yesterday-but another tool that we use is the review of shop
warnings-one of our production control people does that every morning for
the previous day and that helps catch any errors in quantity reporting, as
well as give production control heads up for scrap quantities and other
problems that show up. This, combined with having supervisors review the
labor for the previous day every morning, makes our error correction
immediate-"what happened yesterday?" being a lot easier to answer than
"what happened six weeks ago?"

This may sound strange but what is you procedure for labor editing? When
you say daily does that mean that a supervisor looks at each employees labor
for the day? We also run COS/WIP once a month about 10 or so days into the
next month, but you would be amazed at how many times I get people telling a
labor entry was incorrect and I find it was two months ago!! Usually it
deals with qty's. I guess what I'm looking for is an easy way to spot those
mistakes when they are made. Something we haven't been able to get our
hands around.

We are using 5.00.329 and we also do our labor editing daily and run COS/WIP
once, about 10 days after the month end. This has been working fine for us.
All of the labor adjustments have been made by that time.
